5-minute walk to Spiros Rocks Beach
Our Family recently relocated from Johannesburg, South Africa, to the small town of Port Edward on the Kwazulu Natal South Coast, the last coastal town before entering the rural African Transkei/Pondoland in the Eastern Cape and the legendary "Wild Coast".
I (Tina) was raised on a farm in the centre of Namibia,
in the days when it was still South West Africa.
I am German by birth and still speak/read/write German.
Now living on the water's edge, I am fascinated and awed by the power and beauty of the ocean, its ever changing mood, colour and appearance. I have learned that both the ocean and the weather conditions here are very temperamental, changing from hot to cold, cloudy to sunshine, pouring rain and strong winds to friendly sunshine ... all within a day or week.
Here are some valuable links on weather and tide conditions:

There are a number of small beaches along Port Edward's coastline. Spiros Beach at Doc Wilson point is T&T's "private" beach. It is a fisherman's paradise, yet never overcrowded ...
a well kept secret holiday destination "away from the madding crowd".
I have found that especially at low tide Spiros is a playground for all ages, its rockpools teaming with sealife. However, due to its abundant picturesque rock formations, it is not suited for swimming.
You can dive into the waves at Port Edward's main beach "Silver Beach" with its wide and sandy shore,
less than 3km North of T&T's. About 1km South there is "Granny's Pool"
which boasts a natural and safe (at low tide) tidal pool.
Please browse my website for more detailed information on this and other destinations in and around Port Edward.
It is an easy and safe walk 100 meter walk from T&T's home-away-from-home self-catering accommodation to the water's edge at Spiros Beach. Take a cyber-walk with the aid of my photographs below
On your way back, you can see T&T's blue roof welcoming you home.
I am sure that your stay in Port Edward will be a happy one.
blessings,
